For Small Operators

Fleet compliance built for small operators — not just the big fleets

The DVSA holds a three-van operator to the same standard as a 300-truck fleet — but the software and the support have always been built and priced for the big players. DDIR levels the field: the whole compliance toolkit, plus an AI transport manager, for £1 per vehicle a week. No minimum, no training, no catch.

DDIR manager app — fleet overview
You're the operator, the TM and often the driver too — so fleet control lives in your pocket: change a VOR status, close a defect, add PMI evidence or chase an infringement signature, all from the phone.

If you run a handful of vehicles, you already know the unfairness of it: the rules that apply to a national fleet apply to you too, but the systems built to handle them assume you have a compliance department, an IT budget and a full-time Transport Manager. Most small operators end up back on paper — and paper is exactly where the DVSA finds the gaps.

DDIR was built to give the smallest operators the same grip on compliance the biggest ones have — without the price tag or the complexity.

Same rules, unfair tools

Daily walkarounds, defect reporting, drivers' hours, maintenance records, OCRS — the obligations that protect your Operator Licence don't scale down just because your fleet is small. What usually doesn't fit is the tooling: enterprise platforms with per-user pricing, setup fees, minimum contracts and a learning curve that assumes a dedicated compliance team. So small operators muddle through on spreadsheets and paper sheets that prove nothing when it matters.

What you get for £1 a vehicle, per week

DDIR's entire core platform is included for a flat £1 per vehicle, per week — billed only on the vehicles you actually run:

  • Bespoke driver walkarounds — guided, photo-backed, GPS-locked and time-stamped, for HGV, PSV and vans
  • Defect & incident reporting — including a Bump Card for accidents, tracked through to rectification
  • Driver CPC, Work Time and training records held against each driver
  • OCRS trend monitoring and vehicle recall checks
  • DVSA-grade audit evidence — every record retained and exportable as an audit-ready bundle
  • Andre, your AI transport manager — daily oversight built in

No per-user charges. No minimum number of vehicles. No setup fee, and no essential feature hidden behind a higher tier.

No transport manager? Andre has your back

Many small and restricted-licence operators don't have a full-time Transport Manager — and can't justify one. Andre gives you daily, expert-level oversight anyway: he reviews your whole operation every morning and tells you what needs attention. And if your licence does require a nominated, qualified TM, we can provide one — see our External Transport Managers.

Usable from day one

There's no training course. A driver can complete their first walkaround on their first shift, guided step by step, and you get a clean dashboard and a plain-English daily briefing. It's designed for operators, not IT teams.

One price, everything in it

DDIR is deliberately an all-in-one app — so you're not stitching together (and paying for) a walkaround app here, a tacho tool there and a tracker on top. It's the complete toolkit for the price of a coffee per vehicle a month. See the DDIR app and start a free trial in minutes.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Is DDIR suitable for a small fleet or just a few vehicles?+
Yes — it's built for it. There's no minimum number of vehicles and you're billed only on the vehicles you run, so it works just as well for three vans as for three hundred trucks.
Is there a minimum number of vehicles or a contract?+
No minimum and no long contract. It's £1 per vehicle per week, billed monthly on the vehicles you use, and your data stays exportable so you're never locked in.
Do I need a transport manager to use it?+
No. Andre, the built-in AI transport manager, gives you daily oversight. If your licence requires a nominated qualified TM, we can provide one through our External Transport Managers service.
How much does it cost for a small operator?+
£1 per vehicle, per week for the full core platform — walkarounds, defect and incident reporting, CPC, OCRS, audit evidence and Andre. There's a 30-day free trial with no credit card.
Do my drivers need training?+
No. The app guides each driver through their walkaround step by step, so most are productive on their first shift with no training course.
