What SIPCAT does & why it matters

Your safety inspection (PMI) frequency is set by the age, mileage and type of use of each vehicle or trailer — and the interval you commit to is stated on your Operator Licence. A planned, gap-free inspection schedule is a core part of your maintenance system and one of the first things a DVSA examiner checks. Drifting intervals are one of the most common findings at audit and at Public Inquiry.

SIPCAT takes your analysis start date and inspection frequency in days and builds the schedule for you — calculating each next-due date and showing the ISO week number beside it so it slots straight into a workshop plan. As you record actual inspection dates it shows the days between inspections with a clear red / amber / green status, plus mileage covered and defect logging.

At a glance

  • Auto-calculates next-due dates from your set frequency
  • Shows ISO week numbers for easy workshop planning
  • RAG status flags late or approaching inspections
  • Tracks mileage covered between inspections
  • Print / export friendly — runs entirely in your browser

Let FTC run your maintenance — not just plan it

SIPCAT plans the schedule; the harder part is running every PMI on time, recording it properly, and keeping the evidence audit-ready. That's where we come in.

  • Maintenance & workshop support — we help you build and run a compliant PMI regime, from setting the right frequency to managing defects and brake testing.
  • DDIR Workshop app — run the actual safety inspections digitally and produce audit-ready PDF inspection reports straight from the workshop.
  • DDIR fleet management — automates inspection scheduling and reminders, so inspections, MOTs and tacho calibrations never slip.

Book a free, no-obligation consultation and we'll turn your schedule into a maintenance system the DVSA will be happy with.

FAQ

Common questions

How often should I inspect my vehicles?+
Your safety inspection (PMI) frequency is set by the age, mileage and type of use of each vehicle or trailer, and is stated on your Operator Licence. DVSA guidance gives indicative intervals (commonly 6, 8, 10 or 13 weeks), but you must assess what is appropriate for your operation and review it regularly. SIPCAT lets you enter your chosen frequency in days and instantly builds the schedule around it.
What's an ISO week number / why use it?+
An ISO 8601 week number (W1–W53) is a standard way of identifying a calendar week, with weeks starting on Monday. Workshops and maintenance planners use week numbers to slot inspections into a rolling plan, so SIPCAT shows the ISO week beside every inspection date to make planning and booking easier.
Is this DVSA-compliant?+
SIPCAT is a planning and record-keeping aid that helps you maintain inspections at the frequency stated on your licence with no gaps — a core requirement of the DVSA Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness. It does not replace your maintenance system or professional judgement; you remain responsible for setting an appropriate frequency and carrying out and recording each inspection.
Can I print or save the schedule?+
Yes. Use the Save as PDF button to print or export a clean copy of the schedule and analysis. The print layout hides the website navigation and shows just the tool and table, so you get an audit-ready document. The tool runs entirely in your browser and nothing you enter is stored.
Can you manage maintenance for me?+
Yes. FTC provides maintenance and workshop support, and our DDIR Workshop app lets you run the actual PMIs digitally and produce audit-ready PDF inspection reports, while DDIR automates scheduling and reminders so nothing slips. Book a free consultation and we'll help you set up a compliant maintenance system.
