DVSA TEVR Self-Assessment

This is the exact same form a DVSA Traffic Examiner completes during a visit (TEVR V1.6). Use it to score your own operator licence compliance — and fix the issues before they do.

Are you prepared for a DVSA Traffic Examiner Visit? A TEVR can be stressful, but proactive preparation is the difference between a clean visit and a costly one.

This free, interactive tool is built directly from the official TEVR V1.6 form. Work through the same 17 sections an examiner does, score yourself honestly, and you'll instantly see your compliance result and exactly where a Traffic Examiner is most likely to find problems — before the DVSA does.

A high TEVR score is not just an awkward conversation. Poor results can lead to roadside prohibitions, damage to your OCRS score, and referral to the Traffic Commissioner for a Public Inquiry that puts your O-Licence — and your livelihood — at risk. The good news: almost every finding is preventable with the right systems in place.

What your score means

The TEVR scoring bands mirror how a DVSA Traffic Examiner grades your operation:

  • 0 — Satisfactory. Your systems are compliant and working. Keep evidencing it.
  • 1–5 — Mostly Satisfactory. Generally sound, but with minor gaps to close before they become findings.
  • 6–10 — Unsatisfactory. One or more significant failings needing immediate attention.
  • 11+ — Report to OTC. Serious or repeated non-compliance likely to be referred to the Traffic Commissioner.

Wherever you landed, the value is in what you do next. Most operators can move from amber or red to green within weeks once they know exactly which systems to fix — and that's precisely where we come in.

FAQ

Common questions

Is this the real TEVR form?+
Yes. The fields and scoring mirror the official DVSA Traffic Examiner Visit Report (TEVR V1.6) — the same structure an examiner completes during a visit. It lets you assess yourself against the exact criteria they use, section by section.
What's a good score?+
A lower score is better. 0 = Satisfactory; 1–5 = Mostly Satisfactory (minor gaps); 6–10 = Unsatisfactory (significant failings); 11+ would likely mean a report to the Office of the Traffic Commissioner. Aim to drive your score toward zero before a real visit.
What happens in a real Traffic Examiner visit?+
A DVSA Traffic Examiner reviews your drivers' hours, tachograph records, Working Time records, driver licensing, vehicle monitoring and operating centre. They score each area on this form, and a poor result can lead to prohibitions, OCRS damage and referral to the Traffic Commissioner for a Public Inquiry.
Can FTC help me prepare?+
Absolutely — it's what we do. We provide TEVR preparation, full compliance audits, MIVR and Desk Based Assessment responses, tachograph analysis and Public Inquiry representation. Book a free consultation and we'll help you find and fix issues before the DVSA does.
Is my data saved?+
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is submitted to or stored on any server — your answers stay on your device and disappear when you close the page. Use the Print / Save as PDF button if you want to keep a copy.
